How to prepare to a photoshoot

Several recommendations before the photo session

The success and satisfaction of the photo session depend not only on me as a photographer but also on the preparation, location, and your mood as a participant in the process. After all, tension always reflects in facial expressions and poses, thus affecting the result of our joint creativity.

1. Think about why you are doing the photo session. What does this experience mean to you, what do you want to capture in it, what meanings and values do you want to convey. Your intention will guide us both in the process. It's like point B on the map, where we are heading. Discussing this with me - we will be confident that we understand each other well and the direction we are heading.

2. A consultation or friendly conversation with me before the photo session can resolve your anxieties or questions. So, try to discuss not only your wishes but also what concerns you. Together we will cope.

3.Good thoughts, rest, and proper breathing will help you tune in the right way. Try not to plan something the day before the photo session that tires you out and is too mentally stressful.

4.Preparing your appearance for the photo session is no less important.

Clothes and makeup
When choosing clothes for the photo session, make a choice in favor of comfortable and comfortable clothing in which you can easily spend several hours of shooting. Choose clothes in which you like yourself, which look good on you. You may want to consult with a stylist. All wardrobe details should be ironed and clean. If the photo session is planned as a family, you need to choose clothes in the same color scheme or one style. It is important that the clothes have no more than 3-4 colors. It is advisable to discuss the color scheme and style of the chosen clothes with the photographer. The best choice would be light clothing made of natural fabrics in pastel, natural shades. For children, it is better to choose clothes that match the parents' outfits in style and color. Gentle pastel tones with inconspicuous, non-contrasting patterns are very suitable. Having chosen clothes for the photo session, do not forget about the shoes. It is important that the shoes match the style and color of the clothes. Do not wear extremely high heels.

As for makeup - it is up to you. If the genre of the photo session requires it - you can use the advice or services of a makeup artist and stylist. If not - then we can solve this at the consultation.

24 hours before the shooting, it is not worth visiting a tanning salon and a cosmetologist. Take care of this in advance.

Psychological preparation.
A wonderful mood of all participants in the shooting is one of the most important conditions for a successful photo session. If the shooting takes place in a friendly, cheerful, and kind atmosphere, then the photos that come out will evoke only good and sincere emotions and warm memories. Please do not be shy to tell if there are any nuances in the display of your appearance. During the shooting, allow yourself to be relaxed, uninhibited, natural, and real. There is no need to pose specifically. Be generous in showing tender emotions to each other if it is a couple's or family photo session. Sincerely love and rejoice. Sometimes some family members need time to adapt and look around, feel calm and safe.

Usually, after some time in the process, people stop feeling discomfort and start taking an active part in the process. The main thing is to keep all participants in the shooting in a good mood and well-being. If small children will take part in the photo session, then the shooting should be chosen, taking into account the child's regime. And definitely allocate time for acquaintance and habituation. It is desirable to prepare older children in advance. Tell them about the upcoming event as some kind of fun adventure.

Also, for your own comfort, I recommend getting enough sleep the night before. And have a light snack before the photo session. You can bring water, wipes, and comfortable changeable shoes with you.
